Glow

Starting December 16, Galerie Youn presents GLOW, a holiday exhibit! Over thirty emerging artists discovered at international art fairs and during studio visits in Los Angeles, New York, Hong Kong, Berlin, London and – of course – Montreal, will each show one representative piece. These luminescent works will take various forms: the photographs, paintings, sculptures, drawings, and installations side by side will create a glowing environment. “This exhibit pays tribute to emergent artists and to their talent, which lights up our winter! The artists showcased were carefully selected. I had to limit myself to one work of art per artist, even though I wished I could show many more. These are pieces for which I felt love at first sight, and which I brought back from my numerous trips over the past year. I find the whole particularly radiant and festive,” said gallery founder and director Juno Youn.

From a still life bridging the worlds of tradition and digital arts (Katherine Melançon’s luminous Carrots) to the fantastical universe of American Matthew Grabelsky in which even monkeys take the train, to Jamie Bradbury’s Lift Every Song and Sing watercolour which reinterprets the genre, visitors will get a survey of what contemporary art has in store for the near future.
