Statement

My pictures are about the experiences I have with the subjects I photograph. Then thoseimages will be there for the eternity, to remember all those moments..In my heart, in my Soul,with all my love.

I can express myself through my photography,...all the images I show are because I fell in lovewith them in a certain way,..and I like sharing my love with others. The mind and memory areamazing, I remember how I felt when I took my pictures, I remember the experience. They allhave a place in my heart.

I feel inspire by music, reading, sculptures, paintings, cinema... but the click of my inspirationcomes from inside of me, I feel it in my heart. When Im selecting my images I feel a heart beatwhen I see “the one”. I like to go deep into my truth, into my need to express myself and becreative. Its part of who I am, Its part of my existence.

I have visions when Im shooting portraits of persons, I see them in a certain way, in a certainpose....the position of their hands, of their arms..doing in certain a movement ..is the way I seethem, so I direct them and I get the picture was in my mind, its like whirlpool of creativity, morethan I go into it, more deep and truth images I get. Is how to being as honest as possible I canbe.

All the pictures I take, I shoot them for my self. I feel very grateful that people like to look atthem, some of these people tell me that my images have soul, that they are deep and honest.

My goals in my career is to continue doing exhibitions, books, personal projects and portraits ofartists and people who has something to say in this humanity.

Biography

Ruben Tomas is a photographer who works on a level above instinct. His subjects are not people, natural landscapes, or animals. Rather, his subject is the elusive connection between himself and what is going on around him. Inner lives seem to appear along the surfaces of bodies: eyes in partial shadow, wet hair giving temporary dimension to a face as it is drying, a mask that shows more than it hides.

Ruben’s signature style is unmistakable. Born in Valencia, Spain, Ruben’s artistic journey has spanned five countries and four languages. His professional career has taken a similar adventure through acting and modeling. Thus, it is no wonder that Ruben’s way of making photographs captures movement in stillness and mystery in bareness. These qualities reflect his own creative process: he sees certain images before he captures them.

Ruben’s work is internationally recognized and has been featured in exhibitions in Los Angeles, Brussels, and Antwerp. His fashion photography has appeared in L’Officiel Hommes, Elle, Refinery29, Behind the Blinds, The Ones 2 Watch, Schon Magazine, Fucking Young, Tendencias Magazine, and the Word Magazine, among others.
